“I Just Wanna Know,” “Got You on My Mind,” and “Wish You Wouldn’t” all tackle this subject in different ways. One aspect we hear a lot about on this project is failed relationship, both romantic and friendships. He doesn’t expect you to get what he’s doing, “what you expect from a therapy session.” NF sees his music affecting crowds of people and Calls out folks talking big online but saying nothing in public. NF puts his emotions out in the open and that is how he copes and debunks people saying his music has no message. That’s probably one of the realest bars I’ve heard in a while. Nathan talks about the real life of his fans, like when a daughter’s father beats on her mama, NF wants to call him but that would just make him hit her harder. He’s received a message from someone threatening to slaughter his entire family and other things of the likes. Nathan talks about how kids are telling him how his music is helping them but also some of the negative things he has encountered. The title track “Therapy Session” starts off sounding eerie as if one was at a haunted house. It deals with fan expectations, “if you don’t want music that’s personal, might as well throw out the record.” NF lets the listener know exactly what they are going to get on this album and how music is his outlet…his therapy. This track is in a similar vein as “Intro 1,” as it starts off slow and menacing. “Intro 2” we hear NF spitting in his aggressive style addressing some of the critiques he received from his previous project. He talks openly about his current struggles, but he doesn’t seem to offer some sort of answer or resolution? Can this kind of approach really be useful to the listener? Let’s look at some of the stand out tracks on the album and see. Nathan doesn’t seem to fall under that category but instead he falls on the opposite side of the spectrum. One thing that critics of “Christian” art have is that the artists tie everything at the end with “but Jesus saves and all is right with the world.” This says that art goes for the cliché happy ending. Is this album more of the same? I would have to say yes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In the CHH community, NF has come under fire for not talking about Jesus enough and sounding too angry ( I don’t why Christians are afraid of being angry, guess that’s why some said they thought Datin had a demon in him). Mansion was a trip through Feuerstein’s mind and it seems as if Therapy Session is a deeper look at those rooms of the house. It’s amazing how he is able to churn out so much emotional content in such a short amount of time. All that to say, NF has a crazy work ethic. In 2015, Mansion dropped and now we have arrived at the Therapy Session. After the signing, NF quickly dropped his self titled EP NF and it did well. Nathan was the first rapper Capitol CMG ever signed back in 2014. Intro was used in the trailer for the season finale of Empire and in Madden NFL 16) and his music videos have done well on VH1, but how will this sophomore project stack up? Songs from his first album received placements (i.e. NF is known for his passion, real, raw, and unrelenting music. Therapy Session is the sophomore album follow up to the greatly received Mansion album released just last year. That doesn’t worry me.Apa highly anticipated project was released by Nathan Feuerstein, better known to the world as NF. What is the point of this song, I’m just venting but what you expect from a therapy session? NF ‘Therapy Session’ When I’m looking out at this crowd full of people I know I affected? NF ‘Therapy Session’Īh, I got some things in my life, I know I should let ’em go. How you gon’ tell me my music does not have a message. But honestly, I feel like nobody knows me. I’m taking pictures with thousands of people. And saying your music’s the reason that they are alive. These are the parts of my life that’ll never see. That’s just a glimpse to the stuff that gets sent to me. I knew my problems’ll probably catch up eventually. When I’m mad and put on a mask, for real though. You want me to walk in the stage with a smile on my face. Go through all the quotes and understand them well.Īfter reading this article you can also go through other articles on NF quotes from songs, and we have mentioned them in the conclusion part.
